Interview with the artist What is the first artwork you ever sold? Red Wine - oil on canvas, 2003. One of my best work so far sold at the Greenwich art and craft market.
Did a particular person or event spark your interest in art? My sister who is the 'real' artist in the family! I bought her some oil colours for her birthday which she didn't want because she loved painting with water colours so I thought 'i'll have a go'!
How long does it usually take you to complete an artwork? It depends on the size of my work...some as little as 30 minutes and others over a period of few weeks.
What is your favourite media and why? I love working with oil as its easy to work with when you're a slow artist! Oil is also easy to correct if you make a mistake which is not a bad thing sometimes as mistakes can be artistic in its own right!
What do you like best about being an artist? I love the fact that almost everyone I know that I care alot about have something in common - my art! I love creating something that becomes part of someone else's life and brings joy to their world.
Where do you work, do you have a studio? I work from home, my bedroom is my studio so sometimes its a bit hard to sleep at night with all the smell of turp!
Have any of your artworks ended up in unusual or famous places? Two of my paintings were bought by a lady living in Beverly Hills 90279 in USA ;o)
Are there other artists in your family? My sister - she loves working with water colours and likes to paint disney cartoon characters, fairy like creatures. She I would say is the true artist in the family ;o)
Have you ever inspired somebody to become an artist? Yes, several people I worked with at my part-time job bought art materials to paint at home as hobby since seeing my work.
What item could you not do without? Turp.
Do you have an unusual 'day job'? My 'other' job not sure if its unusual but i work at an investment bank in the Desk Top Publishing department.
